Baking a Birthday Cake For Jesus

Saturday evening we spent a few minutes making a birthday cake for Jesus.
Mylea has gotten in to the whole baking thing and wanted to do it without any help.

After mixing all of the ingredients, Mylea did a quick quality control check.
When the cake had finally cooled, My couldn't wait to decorate it. She wanted the cake to say "Happy Birthday Jesus. Welcome Home For Christmas". I asked her how to spell all of that and her response was "BJGDK".
Mylea picked out some present and ornament shaped sugar candies to put on top of the cake.
A warning to all who eat this cake tomorrow.....I guess Mylea thought the sugar candies were like stamps. She licked the back of every one of them before placing them in the icing. I guess licking them helped the candy stick to the cake??????
Happy Birthday Jesus!!!!

Countdown to Christmas Day 5

Tuesday night we headed to go see this long awaited movie.....
We love the Chipmunks and couldn't wait to see the new movie. Mylea was "so excited" all day about daddy getting off work and heading to the theater.
Someone was comfy during the movie!!!

I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone, but let's just say that I think you should save your money. In fact, I don't think we will even buy it when it comes out on dvd!

Oh well......Mylea enjoyed it!

Countdown to Christmas Day 9

Friday night we drove up to West Fork to see Ms. Jassa crowned "Color's Day" (aka Homecoming) Queen. Mylea couldn't wait to see Ms. Jassa in her princess dress. Mylea wanted to wear her own princess dress-up clothes to the game, but I convinced her that it would be way to cold.
When we arrived at the gym, Ms. Sherry (Jassa's grandmother) took Mylea to the girls locker room so Mylea could get a peek at all the princess dresses. A few minutes later, Ms. Sherry returned and said that Mylea wanted to stay with all the princess'. A few minutes before the ceremony began, Mylea and Ms. Kelly (Jassa's mom) returned to their seats. Mylea made sure to point out where Landen and I were sitting but then continued to walk right passed up and to Ms. Kelly's seat.
Mylea enjoyed the attention from Ms. Kelly!!!

Ms. Jassa being escorted and crowned by her brother, Josh.

Mylea and Landry checking out all the pretty dresses.
Someone was determined to get her picture with the queen!
Congratulations Ms. Jassa! You looked beautiful! Mylea now wants a dress just like yours!

Countdown to Christmas Day 10

Countdown to Christmas Day 13

Today was moving day! In the midst of all the craziness, Buddy the Elf somehow made his way to the new house. While carrying boxes in and moving things from one house to the other, the doorbell rang and there was Buddy. Mylea was excited to see that Buddy knew where to come and that he brought a housewarming gift!
When Landen got home from work, we headed upstairs to cook some popcorn and we watched "Home Alone". You can guess who joined us for popcorn and a movie.....Stitch!!

Countdown to Christmas Day 14

Last Sunday night, our children's choir presented the musical "Christ-myth Busters". This has been our most challenging musical since we have attended Rye Hill. Mylea got to be an angel, a shepherd hanging out on the beach, and she also sang "O Come Let Us Adore Him" with the preschool choir.

Countdown to Christmas Day 17

Smith Chevrolet held a Toys For Tots Christmas Party for its employees so we headed to Landen's work for our Christmas activity. On our way, we stopped and let Mylea pick out a boy and girl toy to donate.
When we arrived at Smith, Mylea picked out a table for us and began working on her gingerbread house.

We were served pizza and cupcakes for dinner. Mylea was excited to have popcorn and hug juice drinks. While we ate, a surprise visitor made a special appearance.
I thought that My might be excited to see Santa since she sat in his lap just a few nights earlier....well, this is where she stayed......
After we convinced her to come out from under the table, Mylea still didn't want Santa to come any where near her.
Before we left to head home, Mylea was excited to see a nutcracker painted on the window.
