Gymnastics Superstar

Today was Leightyn's first gymnastics meet. During the meet, she had to go to several different stations and do the assigned skill. At the end of the meet, the children got to show off their medal on the podium.

Flippin Fun

Leightyn loves to do gymnastics around the house. Tonight Leightyn was teaching Mylea how to run and flip on the chase lounge in our bedroom. When Mylea and Leightyn finished their flips, they would go to each other for a high five.

Adding To Our Family!!

So we have made an addition to our family (and no....I am not pregnant). Today the girls and I headed to the fish store to meet up with my dad. Leightyn was going to help him pick out some crabs and fish for his aquarium. Well somehow, we ended up with fish to bring to our house. I am not sure it this was a planned trip or not. Anyways, Leightyn told grandad that she wanted some fish like him. Grandad was not about to say no to that. I think he was excited that she wanted some fish. So here are our three new additions, as named by Leightyn)....George (Curious George), Martha (Martha Speaks), and Clifford. Let me just say that I am happy that we got fish and not a hamster...dad...NO HAMSTERS!!!!!

Silly Girls

Messy Christmas Fun

Musician Mylea

Mylea has a keyboard, microphone, chair set that she loves. We keep it in her room but she carries it to whatever room we are in. She loves to bang on the keyboard and "sing" into the mic.

Busy Weekend

Several of the kids from church went Christmas caroling this past weekend. Leightyn was super excited about riding in the van with all of her friends. I talked to her about what we were going to do and she wanted to know if she could sing "Twinkle Twinkle" all by herself. She spent most of Saturday practicing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" before heading to church. We went to visit 7 shut-ins before stopping by my parents house to sing to Grandma Nancy and have cookies and hot chocolate. Leightyn had a blast!

Cleaning Time Fun

While I was cleaning out the house, the girls had a great time cleaning the dirt out of the flower pots on the deck. They even managed to get Leightyn's chair and cushion out on the deck to lounge on. When it was time to come in, they were covered from head to toe with dirt. Leightyn has already asked to play it the dirt tomorrow if it isn't too cold....doesn't bother me...that's why we have plenty of bubble bath.

That's My Girl!!!!

Several times through out the year, I go through the house and pack up things we don't need or use (usually toys) and send them to the Women's Shelter. A few weeks ago, I told Leightyn that it was time to think about what toys she wanted to give to the boys and girls that do not have any toys. She was determined that she needed every toy that was hers and that they were not leaving this house. So then I started telling her that she needed to get rid of some toys so that Santa could bring her some new toys. Her response was "I don't like Santa...he doesn't have to bring me any toys. So obviously the Santa line wasn't going to work. Anyways, today I began going through Mylea's toys to give away. Leightyn brought me Pinky (her bear), her baby, and her pig (her three favorite toys) and told me that she wanted to give these to the boys and girls because they might really like them. It about broke my heart to see her willing to part with these. I told her that it was really nice of her to do that but it she wanted to keep them that it would be ok....her response "ok...I'll keep them". Oh well, I think she is starting to understand why we get rid of her toys.

Hanging With The Neighbors

Tonight we hung out with our neighbors (Curtis, Bethany, and Macy)...not that that is really different from any other night. Curtis was making deer jerky and Leightyn decided to help him. She helped smash the meat up, season it, and then place it on the dehydrator.

Macy and Mylea right before they gave hugs and kisses to each other.

I'm not sure what this face was for....she was having a good time scooting across the floor.

Gymnastics Update

We just got home from gymnastics and I must say that I was very impressed with Leightyn today. She started working on backbends a couple of weeks ago and today she did one all by herself. She also climbed up a 10 foot rope (by herself). Leightyn has her first gymnastics meet in Fort Smith on December 20th. I guess I should call it a talent show instead of a meet. Leightyn likes to practice at home. She also likes to help Mylea do flips. Maybe I can get a picture of her teaching Mylea sometime.
